Between Monday 21st and Friday 25th May 2018, Dane Bank held it’s first Enterprise Week!

The aim of the week was to give children the opportunity to develop their problem solving and team working skills. They were given the opportunity to develop their understanding of what “enterprise” is – in the context of developing ideas, creating products and considering the world of business. Throughout the week we also: investigated how skills used in our projects can help us in the world of work; how school and learning prepares us for the future; how to achieve career goals and how money can be managed.

During the week we ran 3 projects across the school. Early Years, Year 1 and Year 2 launched their own “Community Cafe” business, Year 3 and Year 4 looked at designing and creating their own toys in the “Trash to Treasure” unit and Year 5 and Year 6 talked about making profits and setting up pop-up businesses in the “Big Business Challenge”.

Children also worked with Mrs Ridgway who is the careers adviser from Reddish Vale High School to discuss what they wanted to be when they grew up and how they could get there as well as working with staff from the Halifax bank to discuss the importance of saving up and sticking to budgets.

A great week was had by all!
