- The Titanoboa is the biggest snake in the world! It is the universe’s largest snake dead or alive.
- It is roughly 13 meters long ( 42.7 feet ) and weighs 1,135 kg (1.25 tonnes ).
- It is about 60 million years old and it is now extinct.
- Fossils were found in 2009 and were in a coal mine in La Guarira in Columbia.
- No one has seen the Titanoboa or have a picture of it soo… the fossils could have been mistaken for a different prehistoric animal and that means that the Titanoboa might be a mythical creature.
- Did you know that a Titanoboa would have eaten very little but when it did feed it would eat the crocodiles of the Ancient Cerrejon Formation of Columbia in South America?
- After eating these species of crocodile the Titanoboa would not eat for the rest of the year, unbelievable!
- Interestingly, the Titanoboa lived in the Cerrejon Formation of Columbia in South America.
- The Titanoboa lived in the Palaeogene Period and it is called the Titanoboa because of its size and it is short for titanic boa.
- The huge snake was a carnivore (which means that it would eat meat and kept leaves, stems and crops out of its diet).
- This carnivorous constrictor would also eat other snakes like boa constrictors, cobras, pythons and others!
- Thank you for reading and learning about the terrific Titanoboa – Charlotte.
