Summer 2021 – What’s happening this term?
In Summer 1, our books are ‘Supertato’ by Sue Hendra, ‘The Bog Baby’ by Jeanne Willis. In Summer 2, our books are ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’, ‘The Rainbow Fish’ by Marcus Pfister and ‘Where the Wild Things are’ by Maurice Sendak.
Across the school we have adopted a scheme of work called ‘White Rose Maths’. If you would like more information on White Rose Maths please visit https://whiterosemaths.com. As part of our Summer term lessons, we will be covering: multiplication and division, fractions, time, money and place value within 100.
At Dane Bank Primary School, we teach our Geography, History and Science lessons around a learning question for either each half term or term. Through this question we also link other areas of the curriculum e.g. music, art/design.
- Our Science learning question for the Summer term is: ‘What plants would Little Red Riding Hood find in our local park?’.
- Our Geography learning question for the Summer term is: ‘Where is Greater Manchester and what is there here?’.
- Our History learning question for the Summer term is: ‘Why should we be proud of Greater Manchester?’.
- As part of our Art and Design & Technology lessons, we will be making a Manchester Bee mosaic and creating Lowry inspired artwork.

Today, we have had lots of fun celebrating World Book Day. We made a fairy tale castle and our own characters out of a potato. We also wrote our own fairy tale stories too!
We had a lovely time at our Christmas Party. We played musical statues, pass the parcel and even had prizes for the best dancer. We hope you all have a lovely Christmas and wish you a very Happy New Year! Miss Odenrode and Mrs Wilkinson
