What’s happening in the Autumn term?
In Autumn 1, our story books are: ‘The Tiger Who Came To Tea’ by Judith Kerr and ‘The Naughty Bus’ by Jan and Jerry Oke. In Autumn 2, our story books are: ‘Lost and Found’ by Oliver Jeffers, ‘Vlad and the Great Fire of London’ and ‘Little Robin Red Vest’ by Jan Fearnley.
Across the school we have adopted a scheme of work called ‘White Rose Maths’. If you would like more information on White Rose Maths please visit https://whiterosemaths.com. As part of our daily maths lessons over the Autumn term we be covering: place value of numbers within 20 (counting forwards and backwards, ordering numbers and finding one more and one less), addition and subtraction of numbers within 20 and shape (naming and recognising 2D and 3D shapes).
At Dane Bank Primary School, we teach our Geography, History and Science lessons around a learning question for either each half term or term. Through this question we also link other areas of the curriculum e.g. music, art/design.
- Our Science learning question for the Autumn term is: ‘Why aren’t humans not like tigers?’ Through this unit, children will learn all about the parts of the body, the senses and different animal groups.
- Our Geography learning question for Autumn 1 is ‘What is it like where we live?’.
- Our History learning question for Autumn 2 ‘Is London Burning?’.
- In our computing sessions, throughout the Autumn term, we will be understanding what algorithms are and using technology to create, story, manipulate and retrieve digital content.
Last week, was Anti-bullying week in school. We celebrated all the ways we are different from one another by making paper dolls and writing about how we are all different. We also wore odd socks to school on Monday!
