Child Protection and Safeguarding

Dane Bank Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff, governors and volunteers to share this commitment. We aim to create and maintain a safe learning environment where all children and adults feel safe, secure and valued and know they will be listened to and taken seriously. Our school is committed to the principles outlined in ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ and implements policies, practices and procedures which promote safeguarding and the emotional and physical wellbeing of children, young people and staff.

We believe safeguarding children is everyone’s responsibility. Everyone who comes into contact with children and families has a role to play.

Our pupils’ welfare is our paramount concern. The Local Governing Committee will ensure that our school will safeguard and promote the welfare of pupils and work together with other agencies to ensure that we have adequate arrangements to identify, assess and support those children who are suffering or likely to suffer harm.

At Dane Bank Primary School, we are a community and all those directly connected, staff members, governors, parents, carers, families and pupils, have an essential role to play in making it safe and secure.

All schools have a Safeguarding policy which tells people what to do if they think a child may be suffering abuse or neglect. All of the staff at Dane Bank are trained in Safeguarding and Signs of Safety and learn the signs of abuse/neglect. Our policy is based on the Tameside Local Authority model policy – circulated by Tania Brown (Local Authority Designated Officer LADO/Safeguarding Advisor for Education). You can find a copy of this policy on our Policies page.

All visitors to school who will be working with pupils receive a summary leaflet which outlines the principles within our policy.

Operation Encompass

From the 21st January 2019 Dane Bank Primary School is implementing a new project that will run jointly between schools and Greater Manchester Police. This project is called Operation Encompass.  It aims to support children who are affected by domestic violence by ensuring that their school is informed. This allows the school to support the children. If you have any other questions about this project, please do not hesitate to contact the school.
