Year 3 have been doing a lot of investigating recently! We have investigated if the tallest people in the class always have the largest bones. Last week, I set them a challenge to build a structure that would support a ball so that it is lifted above the table and wouldn’t wobble over. As usual, the Year 3 children attacked the challenge with great gusto and thoroughly enjoyed getting stuck into investigating the problem! There were various different structures created but the most successful had a wide base for stability/balance and a tubular column to lift and support the ball above the table. The children made some lovely links with our learning about how bones, such as the feet, legs and hips, provide the rest of the body with balance and support.
