What’s happening this term?

Spring Term



In Reception class the children will be investigating the composition of 6-10.  The children will be sorting, matching and counting objects.  They will be learning the number bonds to five.  They will be comparing objects according to size, mass and capacity.  The children will also to completing simple patterns, naming and finding properties of 2D and 3D shapes.



We will be having themed weeks based on The Gruffalo, Red Riding Hood, The Owl Babies, Chinese New Year, The Three Little Pigs, The Billy Goats Gruff and Tiddalik.

The children will be learning all the phase 3 letter sounds.  They will be learning how to read and write simple words and sentences.


Other Areas of Learning

We have got lots of exciting things planned for this half term.  We will be visiting the local library and a local church.  The children will be doing observational paintings of the Gruffalo. They will be using Beebots to plan routes and building bridges for the goats.  We will be thinking about our hopes and dreams as well as keeping healthy.  We will also be comparing where we live to Australia.


Useful Information

Reading books are changed every Wednesday or Thursday.

Home-School books will be given out every Friday and need to be handed back in the following Wednesday.

Snack money is £2 per week
